Kai the Hitchhiker Rockets to Profanity-laced Internet Fame

Kai the Hitchhiker's bludgeoning days may finally be behind him after his latest violent escapade. Kai the Hitchhiker's bludgeoning days may finally be behind him after his latest violent escapade.

The homeless California surfer, known as "Kai the Hitchhiker," who catapulted to fame after a profanity-laced FOX News interview has struck again.

Shaggy-haired Kai Lawrence McGillvary became a viral video sensation earlier this year after using a hatchet to pummel a delirious truck driver that assaulted two people in Fresno, California. While initially lauded as a somewhat kooky hero, McGillvary seems unable to stop his bludgeoning ways.

Earlier this week, McGillvary was arrested in connection with the homicide of 73 year old Joseph Galfy, who died from injuries sustained by blunt force trauma. McGillvary has pleaded self-defense, writing on his Facebook page that he "woke up with a groggy head, metallic taste in [my] mouth, in a strangers house" and claims to be a victim of rape and drugging. Galfy befriended the still homeless McGillvary in New York, inviting him to stay at his apartment only to be found dead the next day.

In response, fans have been rallying on behalf of McGillvary, hoping to raise the funds necessary to provide him with proper legal defense as well as pay his $3 million dollar bail.
