Snoop Lion is helping communities grow healthy food. Snoop Lion is helping communities grow healthy food.

Gin and juice sipper and prolific gangsta rap producer Snoop Lion is a community garden activist. Not only has he started a grassroots farming program in Jamaica called Mind Gardens, he is working with Reed's soda company in LA to host a sponsorship contest for community gardeners.

Snoop's Mind Gardens is a collaboration with Reed's and Causes.com to teach residents of Kingston how to grow their own food with tools and resources provided by program.

“No child should go hungry," Lion said about the project, "After all the inspiration Jamaica had provided me, I felt compelled to create a program to give back to the community.”

"We can all do our part to help people eat healthier and live better," he added.

In L.A., Reed's and Snoop will donate cash prizes to community gardens entered in their "Adopt-A-Garden" contest. The sponsorship ranges from $250 for fourth place to $2,000 for first place and will be judged based on Facebook votes.
