Oprah's Organic Produce To Hit US Supermarkets

Oprah Winfrey, who recently entered the world of organic farming, has confirmed plans to start selling organic fruits and vegetables from her farm in Hawaii.

Winfrey bought the trademark rights to “Oprah’s Organics” and “Oprah’s Harvest” nearly a year ago, fueling rumors that the daytime TV legend would begin to market produce under those names. Oprah has designated 16 acres of her Kula estate to farmland, with one acre in production currently boasting over 100 types of fruits and vegetables. The farm's harvest is used for herself and farm workers as well as donated to local restaurants.

Oprah's foray into organics is an exciting prospect considering the national attention she could bring to the cause, her all-star name potentially encouraging an otherwise skeptical public to try organic foods. The farm is conservation-based in order to be ecologically sound and uses recycled organic waste as compost.
